DERVISH DEDE EFENDI HOUSE (ISMAIL DEDE EFENDI EVI)
Dervish Ismail Dede Efendi lived in this house between 1825 and 1846. Besides composing the best examples of Turkish and Mevlevi music, he trained his students here. The house was restored by Association for the Protection of Historical Houses of Turkey under the supervision of Turkish architects Perihan Balcı and Cengiz Eruzun. It is now a museum containing many traditional Sufi music instruments and a saloon for cultural events Dede Efendi House is a perfect place for a warm and intimate dervish ceremony. To get to Dervish Dede Efendi House:
By Taxi: When coming from direction Sirkeci on the shore road(Sahil Yolu), turn right when you see “Dede Efendi” sign. Then turn left and you will see Dede Efendi House. All taxis have meters and it will cost max 15 liras from any hotel in Taksim or around Sultanahmet.
By Tram(Metro): Get out of tram at Sultanahmet Tram Stop and walk down by the Blue Mosque.(follow the map direction)
