DANCES OF COLOURS

Since June 2001 turkish cultural dances have being performed periodically in a theatre under the name of Dances of Colours. The ensemble putting this show into stage is giving itself the name of Turkish Cultural Dance Theatre.
The principle of the Ensemble is the correct representation of traditional Turkish culture and arts and within this context shape and display both the folk dances and music and the costumes with a new staging concept with appropriate respect to their origins.
The Ensemble presents all the trends, colours and refinements which are particular to Turkish dances with great sensitivity and their repertory includes outstanding examples of Turkish dances from different regions of the country.
The costumes obtained trom their origin are studied in detail, and are technically adapted for stage keeping their colour, embroidery, decoration and use characteristics. Such work brings out the best in the costumes while reproducing them in more practical to use versions.
Staging of the dances is designed with great care. All the arrangements take off from the authentic features and bring contemporary interpretations without destroying the origins and the original forms.
Dances of Colours is the first and only Turkish cultural dance show which have being performed in a theatre periodically. This periodical performance gives chance to not only the tourists but also to the locals to see the traditional dances whenever they want.
The name of Dances of Colours reflect the colourfull culture of the country. With a very old history and a magnificient location Anatolia was always playing the role of a bridge between East and West. So. it was always under the exposure of different cultures. Since dancing is a very efficient way of expressing the feelings and ideas, all these cultures are represented in dances in an exellent way. All the feelings belonging to human nature are beautifully and estheticty blended in dances. The performance of Dances of Colours consists of traditional dances from 1 lI different regions of Turkev Including the famous religious dance of 'Whirling Dervish' which is otherwise a very difficult thing to see.
The total period of the performance is 80 minutes and divided into two part. The show is on "in Firat Culture Center that is one of the biggest theatres in Istanbul.
